Hospital begins expansion projects

Cuero Community Hospital has begun a $5 million expansion/renovation project which will consist of 9,400-sq. ft of new construction and 4,400-sq. ft. of renovation work. The hospital will expand its physical therapy and outpatient services clinic utilizing the area between the hospital and the clinic. The parking area in the rear of the hospital will be expanded to accommodate about 80 new parking spaces. Also a new access road will be constructed connecting the rear parking lot of the hospital to North Esplanade.

The work should take about a year to complete. When completed, the project will almost double the physical therapy area of the hospital. Plus it will extend the outpatient clinic to accommodate additional specialty physicians. Please note, at times the doors to the hospital and medical clinics may not be in use during the construction phase, please be aware of signs to direct you.

Cuero’s History of Healthcare
Reconstructing the Past

The DeWitt Medical Foundation is currently working on a special project to create and install a historical exhibit at Cuero Community Hospital to be unveiled in August. This exhibit will focus on the rich history of healthcare in our area and highlight the vital contributions of area organizations and individuals.

The Foundation needs help in reconstructing the past by contributing physical items such as photographs, memorabilia, documents and equipment, or simply by sharing with us your memories of important milestones and historical events.

Thank you to those who have already been so gracious to contribute to this project. Many items and informational pieces have already been received; however, we invite as much information as we can gather in order to paint a complete picture of the history of healthcare in Cuero.

To contribute information or loan items to be displayed in the historical exhibit, call the Foundation at 361-275-0511.
